Why do we do what we do at The Inside Space? The reason is simple: iceberg.
You may have heard of the iceberg principle, of how only a small amount of information is visible in a given situation or phenomenon, while the bulk of it remains hidden underneath the surface. Many of us know this principle and we apply it in many areas of our lives, be it in the research we do for our jobs or studies, or in discussions we have with friends on various topics. We know that there’s so much more there is for us to find out in this world, and we work towards becoming less ignorant. That’s partly why there are so many self-help books out there to aid us in fixing our problems and becoming better people. We know that our emotions and our reactions to events cause us trouble sometimes, and we search for ways to make sense of it all.
But we seem to be doing it wrong. We’re merely scratching the surface of what our emotions are telling us about who we are, what we want to be, and what we want to do.
We spend most of our time on autopilot, this being built on personal experiences we accrue – the habits, beliefs and values that form and strengthen over time. All too often, we are only aware of the raw nature of our emotions: we know what we feel, but we don’t know what to do about it. Imagine how powerful it would be if we were more aware of what we think and feel at every point of time: we are able to change our habits and forge stronger and more resilient relationships. We at The Inside Space recognise this immense potential in each and every one of you and fervently believe in your ability to shine as individuals and as a community. That is why we do what we do.
At The Inside Space, we work with you in uncovering and unlocking the hidden 95% of the iceberg. Through our carefully curated Inside Out and Level Up programmes on social emotional intelligence (SEI), we equip you with powerful self-awareness techniques to make finer emotional distinctions. With increased self-awareness, we enable you to more effectively manage your self, and challenge you to focus out to the people around you and how you can serve them more effectively. Only when we are fully attuned to what our thoughts, emotions and physical sensations are telling us, can we truly be of authentic and empathetic service to others.
At The Inside Space, we believe in empowering you, so that you can empower others.
What differentiates us from the rest is our core focus on deutero-learning: learning how to learn, unlearn and relearn our beliefs, habits and how we communicate, making sure that they are of purposeful service to us (the Inside) and the people around us (the Outside).
We encourage, embrace and nurture complexity leadership, examining who you are as persons and helping you thrive in your own ways and in all areas of your life.
We’re new, but we are audacious, loving, and strong believers of the work we do and of your unique abilities as persons to contribute beautifully to this world. The idealism of youths and young adults can offer much-needed hope, possibility and boldness and resilience to the world. Our work in developing strong identities in you expresses our simple conviction: it is the inside spaces that create the outside world.
